Classic Fettuccine Alfredo

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz fettuccine
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Cook the fettuccine according to the package instructions. Drain, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over low heat. Add half of the Parmesan cheese and whisk until it starts to melt.
  3. Slowly add the reserved pasta water, whisking constantly until a creamy sauce forms.
  4. Add the cooked fettuccine to the skillet, tossing to combine.
  5. Remove from heat, and quickly mix in the remaining Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley.
