Growing up, my mom always made the most comforting healthy meatloaf with gravy that filled our home with the most wonderful aroma. Every time I make it for my family now, it takes me right back to those cherished moments around the dinner table. There’s something about that rich gravy paired with the tender meatloaf that just warms the soul. Not only is it absolutely delicious, but it’s also a wholesome meal I feel good about serving to my family. It’s amazing how food can evoke such nostalgic feelings while also being a healthy choice for our loved ones. For me, this recipe is the BEST meatloaf ever!

What is a Classic Meatloaf made of?

A healthy meatloaf often incorporates lean protein sources such as ground turkey or lean ground beef. Additionally, using whole grain breadcrumbs or oats instead of refined breadcrumbs can increase fiber content.

Adding plenty of vegetables like onions, garlic, carrots, or bell peppers not only boosts nutritional value but also adds flavor and moisture to the meatloaf.

You can also make your meatloaf tastier by topping it with a generous layer of cheese!
