Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, finely diced
  • 1 celery stalk, finely diced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • 1 lb (450g) spaghetti noodles
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions, garlic, carrots, and celery. Sauté until vegetables are softened.
  2. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes. Pour in crushed tomatoes, beef broth, and red wine (if using). Mix well.
  4. Season with oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce over low heat for at least 30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  6. Serve the Bolognese sauce over cooked spaghetti. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.
