Classic Buttermilk Pancakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Butter or oil for cooking, as needed

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined.
  4. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of butter or oil.
  5. Pour ¼ cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
  6. Cook until bubbles appear on the surface and the edges look set, then flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  7. Serve warm with maple syrup and butter.
